“Keshikeshika” is a street carnival celebrated on Eid al-Fitr in Nima and other Zongo communities in Accra, Ghana. Rooted in the rich tapestry of cultures within Nima, this tradition brings together diverse ethnic groups, including Hausas, Dagonbas, Malians and Fulanis, to showcase their unique heritage through their dressing, dancing, and music.
“Keshikeshika” originates from the convergence of cultures and traditions in Nima being considered to be one of the oldest and largest Zongo communities in Ghana. Each year, on the afternoon of Eid al-Fitr, tribes from across the community unite and parade through the streets of Nima.
